Urias arrested for suspicion of domestic battery

Los Angeles Dodgers pitcher Julio Urias was arrested Monday night on suspicion of misdemeanor domestic violence/battery, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.Police said the arrest stemmed from an incident between Urias, 22, and a woman in the parking lot of the Beverly Center, a shopping area, at 7:30 p.m. PT.Urias spent the night in jail and was released at 1:30 a.m. PT Tuesday after posting $20,000 bail.”We learned about the alleged incident this morning and are in the process of gathering information,” the Dodgers said in a statement issued Tuesday. “As a result, we have no comment at this time regarding the incident. However, every allegation of domestic violence must be taken seriously and addressed promptly, and we will cooperate fully with the authorities and Major League Baseball to ensure that that happens in this case.”Urias is one of the top young pitchers in the Dodgers’ organization. The left-hander has been used as a starter and reliever this season, going 2-2 with a 3.18 ERA and two saves in nine games, including four starts.A native of Mexico, Urias appeared in just eight games combined in 2017 and 2018 because of a shoulder injury that required surgery.”We are aware of the incident and are in the process of gathering facts,” MLB said via statement.
