UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson tests positive for coronavirus

British Prime Minister Boris Johnson on Friday confirmed on Twitter that he has tested positive for coronavirus.

In his tweet, Johnson explains that he developed “mild symptoms” over the past 24 hours and that he has tested positive for COVID-19.

“I am now self-isolating, but I will continue to lead the government’s response via video-conference as we fight this virus,” he added.

According to John Hopkins University, the U.K. has nearly 12,000 confirmed cases of the virus and at least 580 deaths.
