Thomas Gunderson, who was shot by depraved sniper Stephen Paddock on Sunday, met the US President and the First Lady at a hospital in southern Nevada.

The injured man said on his Facebook post that he respects his ‘country’ and his ‘President’

In the heart-warming clip posted on his Facebook page, California-native Gunderson can be seen forcing himself out of bed to first greet Melania.

The former model and mother-of-one seemed surprised by the injured man’s courage and said: “Hi Thomas. How are you?”

Gunderson responded: “I’m okay” before Trump enters the room.

The President said: “’Hey, this guy looks tough to me,” before shaking the wounded man’s hand.

Trump met privately with people injured in the mass murder and also spoke with family members and hospital staff.

While speaking in the lobby of the University Medical Centre, he said he wanted to “congratulate everybody” at the hospital and praised the doctors for their “incredible” efforts.

He added: “It makes you very proud to be an American when you see the job that they’ve done.”
