Moments after a series of fireworks went off beyond the center-field wall as a preview of the postgame display to come, Juan Soto provided some of his own with a go-ahead two-out, two-run homer in the Nationals’ 4-3 victory at Citizens Bank Park.

It was the second time this season that Soto hit a go-ahead homer in the ninth inning or later against the Phillies. The 20-year-old left fielder also hit a go-ahead three-run shot in the 10th inning of Washington’s 10-6 win in Philadelphia on April 9.
His latest blast helped the Nationals overcome a number of missed opportunities against their division rival. The Nats managed only one run against Phillies ace Aaron Nola, but their constant traffic on the basepaths proved to be just as meaningful.
