President Elect Trump Appoints General Michael Flynn as National Security Advisor

General Michael Flynn has been a loyal advisor and supporter throughout the Trump campaign and at one time was even mentioned as a possible running mate, prior to Mike Pence being chosen for the vice presidency. Throughout the campaign General Flynn was at President Elect Trump’s side, often introducing him at rallies and even attending National Security briefings with him.

Michael Thomas “Mike” Flynn, was born in December 1958, and is a retired United States Army lieutenant general who served as the director of the Defense Intelligence Agency, commander of the Joint Functional Component Command for Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance, and chair of the Military Intelligence Board from July 24, 2012, to August 2, 2014. Prior to that, he served as Assistant Director of National Intelligence.

Flynn’s military career was primarily operational, with numerous combat arms, conventional and special operations senior intelligence assignments. He also served as the senior intelligence officer for the Joint Special Operations Command. Flynn is a published author, with articles appearing in Small Wars Journal, Military Review, Joint Forces Quarterly and other military and intelligence publications.
