Major League Baseball wrapped up its 2020 amateur draft on Thursday night. The spread of the novel coronavirus required the draft to be held virtually instead of in Omaha, Nebraska alongside the College World Series. The owners’ desire to slash costs, meanwhile, led to the draft being shortened from 40 rounds to five.

With the 27th overall pick of the draft, the Minnesota Twins selected Aaron Sabato, a first baseman out of North Carolina. He was part of a Minnesota haul that earned a C grade from our experts:

The Twins have emphasized college hitters with big-time track records in recent years and that trend continued this year. First rounder Aaron Sabato is an exit velocity god and second rounder Alerick Soularie has good bat-to-ball schools. Sabato and Soularie can hit, but they also come with defensive questions. The Twins traded their Competitive Balance pick to the Dodgers in the Kenta Maeda deal and they forfeited their third rounder to sign Josh Donaldson, so they were short on picks and pool money.
