How the Yankees can solve their Miguel Andujar problem – Pinstripe Alley

The Yankees only made it three days into the season before they lost Miguel Andujar to a small labrum tear in his right shoulder. He avoided season-injuring surgery, and returned to the team on May 4th. He has not looked great, however, and the Bombers named Gio Urshela the third baseman for now. That brings us to this week’s FanPost Friday prompt:

What should the Yankees do about Miguel Andujar?

Andujar has collected just three hits in 35 plate appearances since returning from the injured list. He doesn’t even have an extra-base hit this year, and his average exit velocity is down to 83.4. It was 89.2 last year, and league average is around 88. If the Yankees aren’t going to use him at third base, and he isn’t hitting, it becomes more challenging to justify his spot on the roster. Especially when Urshela is on fire, and the Bombers will get Aaron Hicks back today.
So, what should they do with Andujar for the time being? They could keep using him in the DH spot until a few other players return from the IL or exercise one of his options and send him to Triple-A to try and figure it out. His difficulties hitting and decreased exit velocity could signal that it is time to re-evaluate his injury, though. Head over to the FanPost section and share your answer with us. We’ll feature one of the submissions on the front page on Friday.
How will we select which FanPosts to promote to the front page? Some of it will be subjective. If you follow our tips, you should find yourself on the right track. We will also be looking for FanPosts with comments and recommendations. Depending on the number of responses we get, receiving some recs on your post could separate your FanPost from the crowd. Additionally, if your post has a number of comments then it may have sparked some worthwhile discussions. These are just a few things we’ll be looking for when we decide which post(s) to promote on the front page. We are always on the lookout for new talent, and the FanPost section can be a great way to get our attention.
Submit your answer in the FanPost section before Friday (May 17th) for your post to be considered.
